Procurement Manager

job summary:

The Category Manager will responsible for executing at a global level, using best practices and outside-the-box thinking. Understanding of the Strategic Sourcing process, as well as more modern, tech-based approaches to sourcing is required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and negotiate contract agreements in alignment with global initiatives to drive the best value and service, while ensuring business continuity

  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement to define and redefine best-in-class functions

  • Partner with applicable stakeholders to develop strategies that will secure capacity for critical disciplines or product lines

  • Establish, manage and maintain a strong and consistent supplier pipeline through strategic alliances, while ensuring appropriate mechanisms are in place to assess supplier quality and capability. Pipeline should consist of suppliers who furnish materials and services which result in a clearly identifiable advantage in functionality, price, quality, delivery reliability, logistics, partnership and/or reduced total cost

  • Perform spend analysis to establish a detailed view of the current spend segmentation for assigned categories

  • Accountable for producing reports to measure results against strategies and goals

  • Conduct risk analysis associated with the development and deployment of outlined short-term and multi-year strategies

  • Ensure key stakeholders are fully engaged and provide input to category strategy

  • Establish process methodologies to document and archive business requirements that the various department teams can execute

  • Develop and execute on a detailed communication plan, defining the global category strategy and performance drivers

  • Exhibit and deliver deep expertise within the category area, with an intimate knowledge of the supply market, key dynamics and latest thinking within the field.

  • Build, advance, and maintain internal customer relationships

  • Create a Customer-focused environment

  • Apply customer relationship and account management skills and behaviors

  • Understands the financial impact that an effective and efficient category management function can have on the performance of the entire business

  • Develop category cost improvement strategies and cost reduction models for specific product line.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BA/BS degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering; MBA/MA/MS degree preferred

  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment to achieve a common goal

  • Vendor management/relationship skills that develop a network in multiple geographic regions and multiple organizational units

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively at all levels of the company

  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and independent initiative toward accomplishing objectives.

  • Ability to rapidly assimilate information and solve complex problems

  • 5-7 years minimum relevant work experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, and/or Procurement, at a global or national level

  • Strong Track record in cost savings initiatives, risk mitigation, and value-add for both internal and external stakeholders

  • Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel/PPT/Word
